Seasonal tasting menus, neighbourhood tables and flavours from further afield. Find a restaurant for the meal you have in mind.
A lunch in the Écusson, a riverside terrace or an evening tasting menu. Compare the formats and service days before booking.
Plan your meal
For a long tasting-menu dinner, look at Leclère, Reflet d’Obione or Artisane. For a shorter lunch, compare the clearly priced formats at Le Bistro Urbain, Aroc and Pastis. The difference is often the number of courses and the service days, rather than simply a restaurant’s headline price.
If you would rather order individual dishes, consider Sefed’s Ethiopian menu, Galanga’s Thai and Lao cooking or the Japanese selection at Moutarde & Wasabi. Les Demoiselles is a daytime café and tea-room option, with savoury service ending at 2 pm.
Many of these addresses are in or around the Écusson, Montpellier’s historic centre. Rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau and the Canourgue area bring together several tasting-menu restaurants; rue du Pila Saint Gély offers Ébullition and Sensible.
For a different setting within the city, La Réserve Rimbaud sits beside the Lez. Its terrace is a reason to ask about outdoor seating when reserving. This selection stays within Montpellier itself; it does not fold nearby towns or seaside resorts into the city.
Several restaurants close on Sunday or Monday, but there are exceptions. Artisane advertises Sunday and Monday dinner; Sensible lists Monday dinner. La Réserve Rimbaud and Aroc currently list weekday service. Always check the restaurant’s own booking calendar for your date.
A lunch offer can also be limited to particular weekdays. The €31 Bistro Urbain menu, for example, is advertised Wednesday to Friday, while Pastis’s €38 lunch is Tuesday to Friday outside public holidays.
Reflet d’Obione publishes dedicated vegetarian and vegan menus, while Sensible focuses on plant-based cooking. Sefed lists several vegan dishes. Takkito describes its cooking as naturally gluten-free, and Les Demoiselles offers gluten-free baking and a range of vegan choices.
These descriptions do not replace a conversation about a specific allergy. Tell the restaurant what you need before booking, especially where a surprise menu is served to the entire table. Ébullition explicitly states that it does not offer a vegan menu.
A few useful answers
Aroc lists a three-course lunch at €32 and Le Bistro Urbain a two-course weekday lunch at €31. For a lower spend, Takkito lists a €19.90 lunch set, while Sefed’s vegetarian mains start at €12. Service days differ and drinks may be additional.
Reflet d’Obione has dedicated vegetarian and vegan menus. Sensible focuses on plant-based cooking; confirm the current format for strict vegan needs. Sefed lists vegan mains, and Takkito and Les Demoiselles also describe vegan choices. Check individual dishes and allergies directly.

BRA Score — aggregated online reviews is a weighted average of eligible public ratings, converted to a score out of 10. The base weights are Google 50%, TheFork 30% and Tripadvisor 20%, renormalised when an eligible platform is missing. At least two platforms must each have 30 reviews, with 100 reviews combined. Unresolved or insufficient evidence means no score is displayed. It is not a tasting score; platform coverage can differ between restaurants.
