Bordeaux

From the Chartrons to Saint-Michel, Fondaudège to La Bastide: twenty places to explore Bordeaux through food, on both banks of the Garonne.

Information checked on 9 October 2026

This Bordeaux selection brings together twenty addresses within the city itself, from the old-town streets to the Chartrons, Fondaudège, Saint-Michel and La Bastide. It includes both banks of the Garonne, while keeping restaurants in neighbouring communes outside this first collection.

For southwestern French cooking, La Tupina centres the meal on regional traditions and its fireplace. Le Chapon Fin offers a different connection to Bordeaux history, through a restaurant founded in 1825 and its rocaille dining room. Modern bistros such as Racines, Panaille, Mets Mots and Arcada make changing menus part of their identity; lunch and dinner often have different formats.

The selection also makes room for everyday meals and cuisines beyond the French repertoire. Kedem serves Levantine cooking, Ishikawa and Maison Musubi offer different approaches to Japanese food, and Maison Anh draws on Vietnamese family recipes. Monkey Mood provides an entirely vegan option in Saint-Michel. Pizza lovers can compare the fermentation-led approach at Capperi with Testa Dura’s wood-fired pizzas made using heritage wheat.

Plan around each restaurant’s schedule. Maison Musubi and Maison Anh focus on weekday lunch, Café Ériu is a daytime address, and Capperi currently opens to the public only on Sunday evenings. Maison Nouvelle and Soléna suit a more deliberately planned tasting-menu occasion. Follow each restaurant’s official booking route and check the current menu before your visit.
